Missing drive letter and MBR error

1. I used GoBack on my laptop, but after a crash it goes in loops, and restarts the computer without option for intervention. I have then mounted the HD in a USB enclosure, and added it to my desktop. The bios sees it, and I can boot on it, but the loop is still the same. Disk Management shows it as Basic NTFS, and the only option when right clicking on it is Delete Partition. Problem is that it does not get a drive letter assigned, so I cannot get my data from it.
2. After installing a SATA disk on my desktop my IDE disk got a MBR error. I tried a recovery from the installation CD, and when I now try to boot on it I get the message: Press F11 to start recovery. Shortly after comes the message: MBR error. And nothing more happens.
How do I recover from all this?
Peter
