Hijackthis log hasnt got anything really to be worried about is your anti virus out of date ?

or is it working correctly ? if not get a new one,update it and do a full system scan.

Im assuming you have a hardware firewall as there is no processes running for a firewall.

there seems to be couple of registry problems with you system.

Try using Registry machanic , PM me for free registration,
also download CCleaner and spybot and run full scans.

Thanks so much for your help. I actually figured out the problem when I contected my wife's laptop. I was not able to get secure pages on hers either. I uninstalled Norton completely, I used all of the other tricks found here, and I found out that the MTU for my router was too high. I lowered it to 1452 to accomodate those secure sites and VIOLA! it works great now. This is a great thing to remember for those that are having the same issue and they are dumbfounded as well. Thanks to allof those that helped and thanks to Daniweb.
