I want to get an internship in software engineering for the summer, how should I go about landing a good one. Like when should I start, where do I start? I am at a college, would it be a good idea to go to the career fairs, would people there be looking to hire people for intership?

Any advice would be great, thanks

Hi

It is a good idea to start looking for summer internships from November of the previous year. Many big companies stop acccepting applications after Jan mid. You dont want to lose out on those deadlines.

Career fairs also help, however make sure to attend some really big career fairs from top universities. They have stalls set up. There is no harm in networking as it would help you as a resource for your FIRST job.

TO start with, I would type up a resume, cover-letter (stating interests, why an internship and touch up very briefly on your precious projects).
You college career center will be able to help you out with names of companies.
