Morning Folks,

When RAM is removed / Added to/from a system, does it create a log in the event viewer? And if so what ID is it given?

Thanks,

That depends on your server/memory module. I assume you are talking about hot swapable RAM.

It is vendor specific. I know that IBM do log on their PSeries servers. As for HP I am not sure.

Hi, and thanks for the response. Its a Dell Precision 670. No its not Hot-Swappable. Maybe i was being optimistic, i tried a test by taking out another stick of RAM in there then putting it back in, rebooting the machine and checking the event log - couldnt see anything so i guess im stuck!

Thanks anyway,
