the operating system on my sony vaio seem to load okay, but the computer shuts down either immediately or a matter of a few seconds to many minutes later?

any ides on what to do PLEASE HELP!!

Is your battery alright? If you're not running off wall power, this could be a concern. If not, make sure that latest firmware updates for the Vaio are installed. Failing that, I'd say there's something wrong with the internal power supply.
