Data Modeler/Analyst
BSC is seeking an experienced technology professional who thrives on solving tough problems, working closely with the business, with excellent communication and influence skills. The successful candidate must be detail and solutions-oriented, with willingness to work hands-on, combined with the ability to work through the details and translate the issues into business implications.
OVERVIEW:
This person must be an evangelist for data integrity for BSC, educating both the business and IT. The Data Integrity Engineer is responsible for analyzing, assessing, and documenting diverse data from its source through many complex transformations to all applications that consume the data. Additionally the individual will identify and design systems and software to automate data integrity processes, and integrate them with production computing environments. Primary role includes assessing data and database quality, communicating findings, working with key business partners and Applications Development teams to implement solutions, and verifying effectiveness of the solution. Primary focus for the first 3-6 months will be in 3 areas:
1) Data analysis on production data issues
2) eCommerce data validation automation
3) Enterprise data cleansing project definition and kickoff. document.write('\x26'+"nbsp;")
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics or other technical discipline required
3-5 years experience in systems development/data management required
3 years experience with relational databases required, with Oracle preferred
3 years experience with SQL required
Five years health care experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of clinical informatics and experience with a data warehouse.
Metadata repository and Erwin experience preferred
DataFlux experience preferred
Informatica experience preferred
Knowledge of health plan operations and systems is preferred, ideally with Claims, Provider, and Member subject data areas.
Experience with a data profiling or data quality tool. Dataflux preferred.
Metadata mapping for data lineage and transformations. Informatica Power Center v7 a plus.
Defining and implementing joint data testing strategies with the business and IT QA. Experience with QA methodologies and Mercury Interactive tools desired.
The individual will work with other areas of Data Management, other departments in Information Technology, Analytics, Corporate Actuarial, Network Services and Health Care Services as well as other business units, and outsourcing vendors (e.g., EDS).
Ability to write complex SQL queries. PL-SQL, relational database and Unix preferred. Development or DBA experience a plus. Use of SAS or Crystal to analyze data a plus.
