Hi this is my first post hear and i don't really know if i'm doing this right but i used the online virus scan at RAVAntivirus.com and it says i have a virus in these two files:
c:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\SWNInstaller.exe - TrojanDownloader:Win32/Agent.H -> Infected
c:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\CONFLICT.1\SWNInstaller.exe - TrojanDownloader:Win32/Agent.H -> Infected

I have deleted everything in that folder but it still tells me the virus is there. any clues

Moving to the Security forum, as that's where we deal with virus/spyware/hijackware issues.

Please do not contact me by email or PM for help. We're all volunteers here, and only have so much free time to dedicate to our efforts.

However, if I've been working on a thread with you already, and seem to have "forgotten" your thread, please do send me a message. I try not to let things slip through the cracks, but it does happen sometimes.

Things should be very simple, since you've got 98SE. Safest way is to restart computer in DOS mode. Once you've done it, using command line navigation, go to infected folder, and delete malicious files. If you are not familiar with DOS, restart computer in safe mode, and try to delete them then. Files are maybe hidden (check View drop menu-Folder options-View tab-section Hidden-Show all files). If no results occur, post a reply.

Well thanks for that but now i seem to have a new problem and present one that won't go away. My homepage keeps changing to "about blank" and when ever you open internet explorer i get a popup saying my system is infected with serious spyware and stuff like that. one thing i can tell you about the hompage thing is that the same virus scan site tells me i got this virus Trojan:Win32/StartPage.GV. I deleted a file called enibe.dll the day before and it came back the next day. file called "pdagbaa.dll"

Read through some of the other threads in this forum to find out how to deal with the about:blank problem and other "malware" issues. In particular, look for instructions concerning downloading and using the following 4 malware removal/prevention utilities:

Ad Aware
SpyBot Search& Destroy
SpywareBlaster
CWShredder

Run the above programs, let them fix what they find, and post a fresh HijackThis log after you've done that.

I haven't looked around for ways to get rid of "about blank" but i'm thinking it may be able to wait

I'm hoping that my Hijack this log is fine
