Exactly. Most people setup a forum that is about everything and expect to be as big as OffTopic.com is without even trying. People do not post just to post. They want to feel part of the community and want to have others to talk to. Throwing up a forum without pushing any kind of activity will never get the forum active. it's a lot of hard work starting a forum up and getting it active.

That's why it's up to you to seed your forum with interesting topics and questions that people feel an urge to reply to.

Because I wanted to create other things other than forums and the idea was for DaniWeb to be my umbrella company, with TechTalkForums being one of the properties.
