Tutorial Please review my programming and web design tutorials site

  #1
Dec 26th, 2006
As a programmer, it took me much time to surf and find useful tutorials and articles about software and web programming. So I decided to make a website to provide tutorials content for people like me. Topics covered include C/C#, XML, Java, Photoshop, PHP, Flash, Linux, Symbian, VB, Perl and etc. I hope this site could do some help, and you could find some tutorials you need.
The site is: www.hotcoding.com

You have a really nice site there but by reading the other reviews you will see that I am rarely lost for words these are my comments:
  • You navigation should be kept to just one element because you have the link "cluster" at the top right and then a bar accross. I think this should be made into one.
  • I find that the green part that says: "your resource..." should just be taken out and you should put the slogan under your logo.
  • I also don't think that you should really use green on your page although I can see that it is refering to the logo I think it takes away from the quality and cleaness of the blue.
  • I think that the "topics" section should be the same width as your adsense box. It should also line up at the bottom with the latest photoshop tutorials.
  • I don't know why you haven't added rounded corners to the photoshop tutorials section and the google adsense bit?
  • There is also no point of the header box on top of the adsense bit, it is just a waste of space.
  • IMPORTANT: Why is one of the first things the visitor sees a box called "latest PHOTOSHOP tutorials" when your name is "hotCODING". I am sure you get my point.
  • You have a huge amount of tutorials but the thing is, before you actually click on the link that takes you to it there is no way of you knowing what the result is..... it is worth a think about.
That is all i am gonna write for now but if you want to know more please say. But i think that should keep you going

Hope that helps
