Position Title: Senior Backend Tester
Job Description: This is a contract position for a leading financial institution located in the Northern Virginia area. The Sr. Backend Tester will be responsible for developing and performing system testing activities that relate to changes to their legacy mainframe system.
Responsibilities:
- Perform quality assurance analysis and testing on a legacy mainframe application.
- Focus of the effort is on batch process modules, UI screens, and Reports.
- Work with development, QA, and Automation engineers to research, design, and develop complex test automation units.
- Development and execution of test plans
- Generating test plans and test cases/scenarios.
- Participating in code reviews.
- Establishing test data approaches.
- Tracing test cases to requirements.
- Building automated test scripts (using automated testing tools)
- Integration of individual test units into overall test suites.
- Execution and analysis of test cases and documentation of system defects.
- Develop detailed documentation of test results.
- Develop regression testing framework.
- Creation and Installation of test environment and test bed.
- Maintain the mainframe test environments (e.g., data loads, database backups, requesting deployments, troubleshooting issues).
- Enter and track defects using Rational ClearQuest or Test Director.
- Communicate with business and development teams to resolve issues during test execution.
Qualifications: Must have:
- Excellent knowledge of Frontend and Backend testing techniques.
- Knowledge of System Development Life Cycle.
- Strong Cobol Skills.
- 9+ years of diversified experience in requirement study, system analysis & design, coding, documentation, implementation and testing (BLACK BOX as well as WHITE BOX) of Mainframe applications for Functionality, Performance, Regression, Integration Testing and User Acceptance testing (UAT).
- Very strong analytical and problem solving techniques, presentation skills & deliverance and proven leadership qualities with emphasis on individual and team effort backed by good communication skills.
- Proficient in development, execution, maintenance of Test plans, Test cases, Test scripts, Test specifications and Test scenarios.
- Solid analytical and dynamic troubleshooting skills.
Nice to have:
- IDMS experience.
- Knowledge of the Secondary Mortgage Market.
