Position Title: Cobol Programmer
Job Description: This is a contract position for a leading financial institution located in the Northern Virginia area. The COBOL programmer will be responsible for developing code to support new functionality within the customer legacy mainframe system.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze and document existing mainframe code
- Develop design documentation for enhancements to mainframe system
- Develop Cobol programs for new functionality
- Develop and perform unit tests of new programs
- Conduct code walkthroughs for management
Qualifications: Must have:
- 10+ years of experience with Cobol programming in a mainframe environment
- 5+ years of experience writing system documentation and technical requirements
- Demonstrated expertise in Cobol, TSO, IBM Utilities, JCL
- Very good communication skills.
- Excellent analytical skills
- Knowledge of System Development Life Cycle
- Knowledge of System and User Acceptance Testing is preferred
Nice to have:
- Prefer to have knowledge in IDMS and Easytrieve
