Position Title: Data Modeler
Position Description: This is a contract position for a leading financial institution located in the Northern Virginia area.
Responsibilities;
- Design, develop and maintain data warehouse presentation layer using Business Objects.
- Analyze business users’ requirements for ad-hoc query and create BO universes for ad hoc reporting.
- Developing and maintaining platform data models, data dictionaries, data maps and other artifacts across the organization.
- Leveraging expertise in data modeling to provide innovative solutions to challenging business problems.
- Clearly understanding and communicating the technology aspects of application and system operational domains as well as where project assignments fit within technology and business strategy.
- Participating in the project lifecycle, providing data architectural guidance.
Qualifications: Must have:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Minimum of 6 years combined experience in data modeling and database development. Minimum 3 years experience in developing Business Objects universes.
- Experience in using data modeling tools such as ERWin, ER Studio, etc and ad-hoc query tools such as Business Objects.
- Experience in software development lifecycle including requirements analysis, design, development implementation, operations, and maintenance.
- Experience with relational and dimensional modeling techniques.
- Strong analytical skills, proficiency in root cause analyses and ability to resolve problems
- Excellent documentation, presentation, oral and written communication skills along with the ability to work independently and handle ambiguity effectively required
Nice to have:
- Experience in Oracle database development, design, and best practices are highly desired.
- Strong understanding of mortgage business concepts with experience in financial or mortgage technology is desired
