As I stated in another thread this morning, I paid a company many thousands of dollars to produce a photo community site in PHP. I designed the site in Photoshop, gave them to a friend who is an expert HTML/CSS guy (does it for a living) and paid him to turn the mockups into valid HTML pages, he also reconstructed all the images. Then I hired a web development company to take those pages and create the PHP site.

I own my own server, hosted with CI Host as a co-location. I am also doing my best to learn PHP for myself and have become very cozy with the code this company produced. Anyway, I've shown the code to a few PHP programmers and all seem to agree that besides lacking any commenting to help future programmers the code is sloppy, out of date, and unstable. That said, for the most part it does work. (I have problems like being logged in as myself yet the part of the script that says "You are: John Manzione, (jmanzione)" it will say, You Are: Mat Morin (jmanzione) or any other name in the database.)

I would like to hire someone who is really good at PHP to take the scripts, the databse, and all the js, images, etc, and go through it and update all the code, fix anything they see, and make the site stable and working without errors. The company I hired insists the site is fine and although they will come in and fix something that breaks (which was daily in the beginning), they always seem to break something else along the way.

I'm not asking for any new features, or redesigns, or anything else. I just need someone to take the site and make it 100% solid and uptodate. (example: The database is Latin_swedish yet the collation in MySQL in UTF8 and the company insists that doesn't matter)...

If anyone here is interested in doing this job contact me and lets talk about it. If anyone thinks they can offer some advice on what to look for, so that I might be able to fix some things myself, let me know that too. From what I have learned in the past several weeks I'm beginning to to think that maybe the latin_swedish in a utf8 DB might be causing some of the strange errors, but I don't really "know" anything at this point.
