Well said. Although you *can* use photoshop for creating the base 2D texture, you need a modelling program to actually map it to the model correctly, warp the image and all that crap. Like iamthwee said, it's not easy.

I have a question would the Particles in the game be any diffrent? Like in a game ur casting a spell or shooting a bullet you see the spell moving around in ur hand, or the bullets firing

Full-featured particle engines are quite complex, and would take quite some time to write and understand. However, a simple one is described and available from NeHe:
