couldn't there be a thing where if a user joins he/she has to make at least one post per month? per year? per....what ever.....just so that we could have an accurate measure of how many users are actually using Daniweb???

Users are using DaniWeb even if they are not posting here. There is a difference between using the resource and contributing to it. It would be unrealistic to demand that people contribute postings and still expect the quality of the postings to remain at a certain level. I would rather people said nothing if they have nothing to say, than feel obliged to say anything.
