Wireless Router internet connection problem
![]() |
I'm new to this website and this is my first post. I just got a new computer with Windows ista not ery long ago. I just bought a used wireless router about a week ago. I tried to configure it and couldn't get it to work. Then I realized I should press the reset button on the back and did so. After doing this I let it configure itself automatically. The router is a netgear wgr614 v6. For some reason my computer recognizes the wireless network, but not the internet. I know this is not a problem with the cable modem or the wires between them because when I plug the router into the computer I can connect to the internet just fine. When I try to diagnose the problem with Windows Vista it says that it does not have a valid IP configuration. I've tried turning the modem, router, and computer off and reconnected the wires and trying it again, but that doesn't work. I've called Netgear, Microsoft, Gateway, retail Gateway, and my ISP, and none of them helped me at all. Does anybody know how to help me?
