STOP: 0x0000007B Error Message

When i tried to reinstall win2000 professional i got the STOP error message
"Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controller. Check your hard disk drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated.
Run CHKDSK /f to check hard drive corruption and then restart the computer"

what to do i don't know, i m having POS so i put external USBCD Drive to re-install win2000 and now giving me STOP error. can some one help me.

Did you format and partition the hdd prior to trying to install the OS?
