Windows Explorer - Problems where it displays all the folders

Ok, sometimes when I'm in windows explorer for whatever reason, this randomly happens:
On the left side, under "My Computer", everything disappears, and is replaced by around 10 blank folders (see screenshot)...
I'm using windows 98se... It happened on my really old computer (same OS though) too.
Does anyone know what might be causing this?

Strange one ,I've never see that happen before !
