I would be most grateful if anyone could review one of my websites. The main one is http://hmassydney.com
I celebrated my 17th birthday on this ship when it transported the first Australian troops to Vietnam in 1965.
Consequently, the website means a great deal to me and I'm always looking for ways on improving it and my skills.
Thanks

Hello OzeTigerman,
I've checked your website and I found lots (in my opinion) of usability issues. Below are my comments and suggestions (for the homepage only):
- Your title which is "Home Page" doesn't help much.
Suggestion: better to put a brief statement that describes the site.
- The "Home" button should not be clickable in the homepage.
- I’ve noticed that your homepage doesn’t have a search feature.
Suggestion: lots of users use search in finding information, thus, better to have a search feature.
- Too many moving objects. These are just annoyances/clutters on the homepage. Users often ignore it and so with Ads. As to the LOGO, it's bad to have it animated because it is so difficult to remember.
Suggestion: use static images instead.
- Graphics (battle ships) at the top of the homepage should be placed in history page.
- The word "Welcome" at the center of the page is unnecessary. And, the big graphic below it is intrusive and meaningless, especially to people who are not familiar with this symbol, it’s too ad-like.
Suggestion: better to place meaningful information about the site in these two areas -- this would already serve as a welcome.
- “Check out all the great deals in Speed's Clothing Store.”, I guess this is an Ad.
Suggestion: better to put all the Ads in one area. News should be placed in one area as well.
- In breaking news, nice that you included brief information that describes its headline, but you don’t have to display it in motion/loop.
Suggestion: be straightforward; plot all the latest news at once.
I suggest to use valid CSS and XHTML for your website.
All for now my friend.
Your web design buddy,
Bryan
