SW Engineer - Simulator
Portland, OR
This position is responsible for the design and implementation of Simulator and Simulator Display Services software for the evolving Ensequence on-Q™ Create suite of authoring tools for the interactive video and TV industry. This position will focus primarily on new and existing on-Q™ Simulator product functionality. The individual in this position designs and codes complex application modules or subsystems of new and existing Ensequence products with limited direct supervision.
The ideal candidate for this position thrives in a high energy, dynamic team-driven development environment, is energized by evolving technologies and adapts quickly to change. This individual has proven analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex problems. This results-oriented professional has proven ability to take charge and deliver on any task with little or no supervision.
Major Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Author and edit functional specifications and technical design documents.
· Provide work estimates, determines project scope and meets development schedules. May coordinate the costing of development efforts for design and implementation of application modules or subsystems including work by other engineers.
· Document application and system specifications and solutions to satisfy technical project requirements.
· Participate in development efforts on emerging platforms and technology.
· Contribute to system integration projects. Design and develop integration components as needed.
· Identify and help drive improvements in the development process.
· Participate in or lead peer code and design reviews.
· Collaborate with Product Support and Quality Assurance staff in researching escalated customer issues.
· Collaborate directly with Product and Technical management in reviewing customer requirements and setting priorities for upcoming releases.
· Develop and unit test modules, including the integration of work performed by other team members.
· Escalate design risk and other issues to management or Technical staff.
· Conduct technical presentations to Development and cross-functional staff.
· Create and maintain architecture documents for application and system components.
· Train and coach junior staff members.
Required/Desired Skills and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
· 3+ years of experience designing, developing, delivering, and maintaining software and at least two years experience in graphics and media-oriented software
· 3+ years of applicable experience working with the following technologies: C++, C#, .NET and Object-oriented design skills
· Knowledge and expertise with DirectX, DirectShow and Direct3D; experience with Windows Media format and encoding
· Proven ability to quickly understand existing complex software architecture
· Strong technical, process and written communications skills, including the ability to write functional specifications and detailed design documentation
· Ability to understand the business objectives of the company from a technology perspective
