What kind of router? If it's your typical store bought Linksys/Netgear/D-Link/etc, then you do not have to do anything related to "internet connection wizard".

What do 2 pcs do that the 3rd cannot? Access the internet? Get a little link status light to illuminate?

No idea on the ntos trojan. I stopped dealing with spyware years ago.

Sounds like the trojan has damaged the HOSTS file. Replace it.

In xp its C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts (no file extension but open it in notepad)

It should contain only:

# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
127.0.0.1 localhost

The hosts file is just one possibility.

It could have damaged the tcp/ip stack. It could have messed with DNS or IP settings (dhcp vs static).

Did it install a rootkit? (I have no idea what the virus is capable of)

Did only this one pc get the virus or did all three get hit?
