Where can I get a state and city database?

Okay, I will try to explain what I am trying to do. I built my web site for my new book using Yahoo sitebuilder. I almost can't believe that I did it. But I did. And for me, being kind of semi-retired, and mostly pre-occupied with playing tennis five times a week, I'm pretty proud of myself.

But, I want to include a routine on my site where visitors could click to something that would let them choose a state, then choose a city, and then I could provide them with the information that they are looking for in that city.

I see these routines on other web sites all the time, and I am thinking that this kind of a routine is probably a routine thing in itself (and probably already coded and available for me to use). But I can't find it anywhere.

That's the main reason I joined this site. To find out how to do that. But I am sure that once I do figure that out, I'll continue to be a member. So that I can learn things and share my limited expertise and expereinces with others.

Thanks in advance for any assistance regarding the above.

Larry
