Where were you when the power went out?
![]() |
I was among the lucky ones. As someone else said, everything east of Quebec stayed alive for the simple reason that a relay somwhere in north western New Brunswick kicked out and kept us from getting hit. All the same, I do remember that the lights in my house flickered a bit that day and mabey half an hour later, a family member in Toronto was on the phone saying "turn on CNN" and that he was sitting in his office listining to the chaos unfold.
Of course none of us here in Halifax could have known that some 3 odd months later we woulld be dealing with our own blackout issues as a result of Huricane Juan. I was personally without power for 30 hours as a result of that storm. Thankfully it was early fall and warm when that happened.

The lights went out exactly one second after I turned my computer on. Freaky. Maybe it was all my fault.
