Try this for the IE errors;

Download Dial-a-Fix and run it. Select the 'Check all' (green arrow) and then hit 'GO.'
Reboot when done and see how things are now.

ummm i bought the computer with the sp2 already in it

i am also having a DiscUpdMgr.exe application error when i start the computer and it doesnt let me take it off startup either

okay and i see all the mywesearch things in the startup but when i do a computer search nothing comes up... so how do i get them out of the startup menu???

First of all, did you run dial-a-fix? If you did, did it help?
Are you talking about the Startup folder? If so, just delete the entries from there. If msconfig startup, you need to enable all startups and ok out of msconfig then rescan with hijackthis and the entries should show up there.

okay i will try that and i did do the dial-a-fix and i think it helped a little

okay i fixed a few things myself that i new needed to go but i want to get rid of WINDOWS MESSENGER but it doesnt come up in the add/remove part and i cant find any uninstallers for it and i dont want to mess anything up.

and i was wondering if i should run the combofix again??

You can try running combofix again. So, you do not have the XP SP2 installation CD? Can you borrow one? I think you need to run sfc /scannow which will replace any missing/corrupt files on your pc, but you will need the CD.
