Do you have a web server installed. I think that is a requirement inorder to serve the php pages.

I don't really have much knowledge on this subject btw.

if you want to do the web deveopment using PHP, then I recommend you to use Xampp www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html
which is very good tool..U dont have to worry about the configuration.
