Win98SE locks up in DOS

Windows 98SE

At shutdown when Restart in MS-DOS mode is selected; when the computer enters DOS the following command is displayed:

C:\>LH C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~2\MOUSE\mouse.exe
Microsoft (R) Mouse Driver Version 11.00
Copyright (C) Microsoft Corp. 1983 - 1995 all rights reserved

At this point the computer is locked up with a blinking - on the line following this command/message.

I can't find the source of that entry and I am too dumb to know how to get rid of it. Needless to say I need help.

Please post your autoexec.bat, config.sys and msdos.sys. I will try to figure out the problem. Also, useful info would be your hardware (soundcard in particular).

PS To be able to see/read those 3 files you would have to check "show hidden files" in folder options.

[Options]
BootMulti=1
BootGUI=1
DoubleBuffer=1
AutoScan=1
WinVer=4.10.2222
;
;The following lines are required for compatibility with other programs.

;xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxm
;xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxn
;xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxo

Try renaming your Config.sys (or deleting it, if you will).

That "stacks=0,0" is probbably causing problems.
If there is no stacks command (or no config.sys), than it would be set on default values.

Chaky,

According to your suggestion I Deleted "Stacks=0,0" from my config.sys file. This ended my problem!

I thank you very much - I am very grateful for your knowledge.

Think '98, Dude.
"256" stands for bytes. You can hear it from the horse's mouth.
