Hi, my second post. I made my first in the "Geeks Lounge" as suggested. I wish to learn PHP and I'm totally new to/at it. All your help isgreatly appreciated.
I have webspace and they support .php, .asp, .cgi, and .pl scripts. How do I start? With PHP that is. I have my site setup up already now I wish to enhance it with PHP.
How do I get a database? Do I create my own?
After I write a simple PHP script for my site where do I upload it to and how do I check it.
The other extensions I listed above what do they stand for?
Thanks!

GOOGLE!!!
I'm sorry, but you can learn all of these things by a simple google search on your own. Just search PHP Tutorials on google.com. I did, and I found the following:
http://us3.php.net/manual/en/index.p...9abcb4094b387b
http://webmonkey.wired.com/webmonkey...tw=programming
http://www.freewebmasterhelp.com/tutorials/php
I could go on and on, but it would be pointless. Especially since that first link is friggin huge, and should suffice for PHP in its entirety.
Good Luck, and Have Fun!

P.S. before you ask/make a new thread... GOOGLE IT!!!
Can someone post the direct link to this:
PHPMyAdim
It is an excellent free set of scripts that will provide you with an administrative interface for your MySQL database(s). You can add, remove, edit, backup and view your databases using this and it is especially useful when troubleshooting your databases.
I had it on my harddrive but I've seemed to misplaced it. :o
Thanks!

Wow! Thanks everyone. I'm a PHP newbie too.
This is what I've learned so far - if you find anything useful or interesting, print it out. Reading straight from web sites on PC monitor doesn't give you much.

magkii, there are some of us that would disagree. ;-) (Although, I will give you that paper's a better medium for lots of reading.)
Your hosting provider may already have PHPMyAdmin installed for your use. If you go through their control panel, you may see something about databases and PHPMyAdmin.

Old computers are getting to be a lost art. Here at Uncreative Labs, we still enjoy using the old computers. Sometimes we want to see how far a particular system can go, other times we use a stock system to remind ourselves of what we once had.

Puckdropper, you're right. Many people do just fine with what I have problems with.
I just shared my experiences and what I've learned from them. Everyone has experiences of their own, you know?
