I am trying to move 20 Gigabyte hardware from the uncle's Win ME celeron computer to my sister's Win 98 pentium II computer so she can have more memory. I start up the computer and it says that the hard drive has failed. I tried reformating the drive but the computer won't do it. Please help.

What exactly did you do? Did you simply take the drive out of the one computer, and put it in the other, with the original drive still there? That won't work. One drive has to be set as "slave."

Sometimes on the drive is the settings to change it to slave, other times you have to google the drive model number and add "jumpers" after it. (for example, Seagate ST225 jumpers)

Old computers are getting to be a lost art. Here at Uncreative Labs, we still enjoy using the old computers. Sometimes we want to see how far a particular system can go, other times we use a stock system to remind ourselves of what we once had.
