? folder at Startup

I was just using iPhoto when my iBook froze. It would not allow me to force quit. I turned off the laptop. When I went to restart, a folder with a question mark blinks on the screen. Does anyone know what this is and how to fix it?

Thanks,

Dave

Sounds like you need to reinstall OS X, because the OS can't find the boot file.
