On Internet Explorer, My Java does not work!

Hi,
Can anyone outthere help me? None of my Javascripts are working on Internet Explorer on any of the websites that I go to. Also, when I click on Search, nothing shows up on the left side of the screen.
I have Internet Explorer 6 with Service Pack. Yes, I have checked for bugs and removed them. I just don't understand why it does not work.

It is my javascript that does not work.

Javascript Problems On Win98

I am running Win98 and Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 SP1. Recently, I am having a problem with Java and my search window. Whenever I click search, nothing comes up on the search panel. I have not changed any of my setting in IE, but it will not run any pages with Javascript such as games, selection bars, etc. I installed the latest Java plugin, but it is still the same. I even tried to like Carey Holzman suggested and install J2SE v 1.3.1_12 but that didn't help. I also went to http://www.java.com and downloaded Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_04 and Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_05 but none of these downloads are helping me.

It is more than 1 page or site this is happening on, so I do not know what to do now. All I get is a broken link (a box with a square, triangle and a circle in it.) I also get this whenever I go to My Computer, View, and select as Web Page (and any other file that I go and select as Web Page under View). Can you please help me?

To PoA:
On that webpage that you sent me to (www.virz.com), go down to the square that says virus alert. The only thing that I am getting from that box is a small box on the top lefthand side that is inside a bigger box. Inside of the smaller box is a triangle (at the bottom on the left), a circle (in the middle on the right), and a square (on top of the triangle on the left).

To everyone else who reads this:

Does this mean that my Java (or Javascript) is damaged?
All this started when a virus had infected my computer. I used Norton Antivirus to remove it but after it was removed, my java (or javascript) messed up. I even took it to a computer repair shop. They fixed all of my other problems with my computer but they were (for some strange reason) were unable to get my Java back on.

Before you ask, yes, I went to Tools, Internet Options, Security, and Custom Level to check my Java and in each one (Internet, Local Intranet, Trusted sites, and Restricted sites) my Java was enabled.

I really don't know what to do. I had called the place where I had gotten my computer repaired at and asked them what could I do and they had said to go to www.java.com and download the latest Java from there. So I went to that site and downloaded it (j2re-1_4_2_05-windows-i586-p-iftw.exe) which didn't help so I took it off.

Then I to www.ask.com and put down Javascript problems and I tried some of their solutions like download http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/download.html but that didn't work so I took that one off as well.
Another site told me to see if I had a Microsoft Virtual Machine and I do.
Then they stated that:
"Square, Circle and Triangle
This indicates a corrupted Virtual Machine installation, either Sun or Microsoft.
Whichever you use, use the above links to get a fresh version."
And then it stated where to get the fresh version:
"Where can I get VM?
Microsoft (Current version: 5.0.3810.0):
Update: Part of Windows Update
Install: No legal form of installation over the net, but Try Here or Here.
Sun Java (Current Version: 1.4.2):
Update And Install: Sun Java"
Problems with this step.
1. Excuse me, but I cannot go to Windows Update because my Java (or javascript) is not working. When I go to this site, all I get is a blank page.
2. When I clicked "Try Here", it sent me to http://www.java-virtual-machine.net/download.html. I tried the first link (on this page) http://www.mvision.mpsnet.com/java.htm and it led me to a page that is not there (A HTTP 404 NOT FOUND). I went back to http://www.java-virtual-machine.net/download.html. I tried the second link http://download.microsoft.com/downlo.../SDKJava40.exe and it led me to the same thing (A HTTP 404 NOT FOUND).
3. When I clicked "Here" (the second here), the computer went to http://www.delta-knight.com/ms_vm.shtml and downloaded Msjavx86.exe.

So If their are any java or javascript experts outthere, could you please help me?

My Java (or javascript, if you will call it that) is working now.
The problem was with the Internet Explorer.
I went to http://forum.helpbytes.co.uk/ and they helped me solve this problem.

I'm also going to suggest you repair Internet Explorer to fix your search issue:

Start, Settings, Control Panel.
Add/Remove Programs.
Find Internet Explorer, click Add/Remove
Follow the Repair Options.
Thanks to those who responded to my problem.
So thank you, mikeandike22 and PoA.

I am experiencing the same problem and have contacted MS for a resolution. Will share when I find out.

I have the same problem. I don't think it is accurate to say it is Javascript. I think the error is more general in that it affects opening any new IE window. I have contacted MS for resolution. Will share if I can fix it.
