News Removed 2020 Search - problems still there: Hijackthis log included

Hi there, I followed instructions to remove 2020 search from my computer, I have also run adaware and spybot but still seem to have problems with my PC and IE. It is running slow and another search program seems to be around but I don't know how to delete it.

Hi. First of all you need to update hijackthis to version 1.98.2. Run hijackthis & go to *Config\Misc Tools\Check for update on-line*. If the site is down, go here. Remove the old version by deleting the file manually. Unzip the new version into the hijackthis folder.

Please go here for Wintools removal instructions.

Close all (browser) windows & rescan with hijackthis. When the scan is finished place a check in the box to the left of the following entries & click 'fix checked':

You may want to try the Wintools removal again. TV Media is still there too.
Get the VX2 Cleaner plug-in for Adaware here. Run the plug-in & if it finds anything, select *clean system*. Reboot & run Adaware.

Hi...I followed the instructions for WinTools removal, downloaded VX2Cleaner, ran AdAware and followed the old instructions again. It seems WinTools is still in my Hijackthis log although the error message is not appearing anymore.

Let's try this; Reboot into safe mode following the instructions here & Close all (browser) windows & rescan with hijackthis. When the scan is finished place a check in the box to the left of the following entries & click 'fix checked':

Run a system search for WinTools whilst in safe mode & delete all that is found.

Hello, I could not delete the WinTools folder, an error message appeared: "Cannot delete temp: Access is denied.". So it seems WinTools is still in this new Hijackthis log. I thank you again for all the help...this is so frustrating.

Hi there...just wanted to bump this thread, unfortunately there are still problems. I followed every instruction yet when I do a new scan WinTools doesn't disappear! Wintools is showing in your log?? Are you saying you cannot delete it in safe mode?
In safe mode check in Task Manager that non of the following are running & if they are, end process on them;

WToolsA.exe
WToolsS.exe
WSup.exe

Then delete the folder(s).

Hi...in Safe mode there were none of the above processes running for me to end, I deleted all the contents of the WinTools folder except for "temp". I can not access the folder nor can I delete it, the same error message "Cannot delete temp: access is denied" appears. So frustrating...is there anything else I need to do? Thanks again.
