Boot Problems

  #1
Sep 26th, 2007
I just assembled a new computer and I can't get the darn thing to boot. I have power going to the cpu fan and the fan on the power supply. My hard drive on spins when the IDE cable is disconnected, and the rom drive also. The power button works to turn the compter on, but after I turn it on the screen remains blank. What is wrong?

List of possible issues:

CPU is not seated properly
CPU/motherboard are not compatible(front side bus on board needs to match CPU)
RAM is not compatible(example - board calls for DDR2 533 only)
RAM is not seated properly
Not enough wattage to power unit
Video card is unseated

Is there any system beeps? We need more information to help you.
Don't worry! I think I know what I'm doing! :-|
