Could you tell me, please, what colors it is desirable to apply for background, text and links of my web page www.andreyknure.narod.ru in order to make my links more attractive for visitors?
Thanks in advance!

This is what I specialize in, so here is my opinion:
1) Use contrasting colors for readability.
Dark text on a light background is easy to read. It goes without saying that dark text on a dark background, or light text on a light background, is difficult to read. You need to make sure that there's enough contrast between your text and background for the text to be readable. Light text on a dark background is also easy to read, but it should be used sparingly. It's more tiring to the eyes to read large amounts of text on a dark background.
2) Use color sparingly.
You choose to design in more than one color for one reason: for impact. If color is thrown around everywhere, it loses its impact. Make sure that you use color for maximum impact: for headings, or even the most important words in headings.
3) Do not use complementary colors.
Complementary colors are colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel, such as blue and orange. When these two colors are used side by side, the eye has trouble focusing on both at the same time, and the colors may actually seem to vibrate.
4) Do not use color screened (referring to opacity) more than 40% with text.
You see them everywhere it seems: sidebars that consist of text on a box of color that is screened. However, if the screen is too dark, it's impossible to read the text. Anything darker than 40% tends to be too dark to read text against, but this can vary somewhat depending on how dark the color is. You can screen green darker than blue, for instance. Your best bet is to get a Pantone book of tints. This shows screens of the same color from 10 to 90%, with both text and reversed text on the screens, so you can tell at a glance what will or will not be readable.

Interesting comment ITHELP.

Curious, how is your comment a "help" at all. It is not even constructive criticism... He asked a very legit question. Albeit that he does need some help with his UI and overall page structure, but so does http://www.myitcareer.org !

It is always interesting how it seems that when someone asks for help, there is always someone to slam that person... very confusing.

Best,
Screeming Bison

I do not care about your feedback, I did not ask it, I am 100% sure the original poster of the thread wanted to post a live link and make people to click the link and sign up for web hosting under his affiliate link

C'mon ITHELP... What is with your attitude?!?

This is supposed to be a positive forum. If you hgave an issue flag it for a moderator to look at. He question seems legit as this question gets asked much more that you may perceive.

I guess that I could just flag your post as being combative and negative of nature, which by the way is a direct violation of the forum "Rules" as follows:

I would say to get more links you need more Content?

I would not link to a site that (whatever the combination of colours and layout) has no real content??? What is the topic of the site?

Screeming Bison- great advice though!!!!!! Thanks irt is very informative!
