problem with tomcat server

hello,
i am having a problem with starting of services of tomcat server ,when i write"http://localhost:8080/" it is not opening the home page.also when i start it 's services then it automatically stops after some time.
plz help...................................................it's urgent.

often made mistake is that the port 8080 is already taken. Try to change the portnumber in the config directory of your server and try to launch it again.
Also look in the /log directory of your tomcat installation directory to find more information about the exception that occurs.
