The google toolbar search field finishes my words for me (even with words I have never heard of before), I find this autocomplete so helpful, that I would like to integrate this function into my own search field on my website. Does anyone know how this works, what it involves and how I could do this? Thank you in advance for any advice!

I suspect that the algoritm for that is Google's property, but if I had to guess how it works, they are probably using AJAX or some such to query a database on their server after each keystroke. Without access to their database or one of your own, you will probably have a tough row to hoe.
