Got this laptop with MS Windows 2000 5.0 SP 4 in it. Now I am just a user assigned to this laptop. Dont have administrator rights. Cant download anything on this laptop.....dont even have winzip installed in this & can download it.
The person who setup this laptop is unavailable. Can someone please tell me how to know the admin password on this laptop...any software that is available for free. Please remember that cant download stuff...(atleast on this but can ask someone to do it & then run it here).....Is there any way anyone knows how to do it.....
Went thru a coupla sites on lost admin passwords...but got all confused.....I dont want to reset the password....just wanna know the password without much fuss....Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanx & PLEASE HELP!!!

use the following bootdisk to change your admin password: http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/bootdisk.html - you can't recover the current password as it is encrypted in a md5 hash which as of now is not decodeable - good luck!

your failing to see what you asked and as a result you dont see why he responded as such. you were asking for the administrator password on a computer that might not be yours, for all we know your not supposed to have access to that, and your just looking for a way around it. you could also be some little kid that just wants to get around a porn block that your parents put up, or trying to do somthing you shouldnt. Asking for a way around a password with no proof that you are the administrator or just forgot, or your not just trying to gain access to a computer thats not yours is not right.
!!!!! WARNING YOUR COMPUTER MAY BE INFECTED WITH SPYWARE!!!! PAY AN OVER PRICED AMMOUNT TO HAVE SOMTHING FIXED WE PLACED THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!!!!!!
sound familiar, know how to block yourself and keep yourself clean.

The person doesn't want to change the password just crack it so that no ones knowes he was in past where he's /she is allowed to go .
I think i can speak for the Admin and Mods of this fourm on this one .
This is not what this fourm if about ,we do not offer that kind of help here .

Yes, caperjack is right on this one--
Any posts that actually discuss cracking an Admin password will be deleted, without warning. Even if your motives are pure, the risks of that information being misused far outway someone's innocent need for such instruction.

GOT IT!!! I tried hard searching for the guy with the password...& found him & he sent me the password....so things are fine now.
The reason I didnt want changing the password was that I read somewhere that changing it will change things at system level (what? I have/had no idea!!)....& of course I didnt want that & thought just knowing the password without much fuss would be a better option.....anyways...not needed now...
Thanx a lot everyone for all your time on this (issue)....& close this thread..
