We are searching for a Senior Web Developer in San Francisco, CA. Below are the responsibilities and requirements for the position.


Responsibilities:

- Working with product management to review functional specifications for completeness, usability and testability
- Develop new features and maintain existing code using Ruby on Rails and PHP
- Develop and maintain test cases using Ruby Test::Unit and/or JUnit
- Using subversion source control software
- Creation and maintenance of RPM spec files and building and deployment of RPMs
- Deployment of software releases to QA, Staging and Production environments
- Database design for and performance tuning of any new features that you develop
- Working with the customer service team to diagnose and respond to client issues
- Sharing information with other employees via the company Wiki, and presentation to the engineering team
- Maintain & develop on Java-on-Linux crawling engine
- Develop internal administration tools
- Maintain Cybersource payment gateway
- Implement and maintain the QA/rollout process for both site and crawling engine, including setup of automated testing and monitoring
- Inform the specifications of new projects
- Review work performed by outsourced team(s)

Requirements:

- 5+ years of experience in a real-time, for-profit, 24/7/365 environment
- Fluent in Ruby on Rails and/or OO Perl and MVC frameworks
- Thorough understanding of LAMP (Linux/Apache/MySql/PhP)
- Significant experience with Java (including work with JDBC)
- Strong software engineering background, especially software design and software engineering processes
- BS or MS in Computer Science (demonstrable formal training)
- Experience with complexity theory and QA methodologies
- Ability to internalize the business focus and use this to inform development efforts
- Is proficient in SQL, including experience with queries, normalized and denormalized design, stored procedures/triggers, and using SQL in scripting languages
- Is familiar with XML, Remote Procedure calls and SOAP
- Understands hosted applications including networking design and technologies (switches, routers, load balancers, etc)
- Has been responsible for source management, software installation, and environment control (dev, qa, prod) for server applications
- Must be an energetic "self-starter" with the ability to work independently and within a team with strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills
- Pays attention to detail and is able to meet deadlines
