[Java] Looking for Team - 3D Model Viewer & Converter

  #1
Oct 29th, 2007
Hello dear Linux friends,

Im running 3D Model Viewer project for some time now and Im the only programmer....but It looks like I will need some help.

The project is currently for Windows, but I want to make a Linux Version too.

Model Viewer is built from two parts:

1. Converter (Java based)

2. Renderer (D3D9 Version for Windows, and OpenGL for Linux)

Viewer: D3D9 Version for Windows

3D Model Viewer itself is developed for Windows OS, but it runs fine on Linux under Wine. For rendering the DirectX 9 Technologies are used.

Ball model from Microsoft Direct SDK.
I dont need help on this part.

Viewer: OpenGL Version for Windows
Note: The Linux Version of 3D Model Viewer development will start after first public Converter release.

Converter (Java based)
More problems are caused by converter.
3D Model Converter is a handy application which converts most of well known models (.fbx, .3ds, .max, .mdl, .obj...) to 3D Model Viewer readable model OR TO ANY OF OTHER WELL KNOWN MODEL FROMATS. (.fbx, .3ds, .max, .mdl, .obj...)
The problem is:
I cant develop this application on my own. Thats why I need your help.

The fact is:
1. I want the Converter for Windows And Linux.

Thats why Java can be the most appropriate language for Converter.

3D Model Coverter will be an opensource program under GPL License. All Coverter developers will take the Credit.

I also decided to run this project because of all Linux modelers who need this tool more than Windows guys.

So, Dear Linux friends and Java Programmers.
If you are interested in this project, please reply to this thread or send a mail to jan1024188@gmail.com You can use this form:

For better understanding I made this:

So, why is this thread here?
The fact is: We need the 3D Model Converter done, but I cant do it on my own. Thats why Im asking for help. I choosed Java, because I want it running on Linux and Windows.
Dear programmers,
PLEASE HELP!

Any opinions welcome!

If you sign up to the project, I expect products. Project must be accomplished!

Here is yet QUOTE from my website
Why Model Viewer?

jan1024188's software Model Viewer is dedicated to all modelers who would like to check their models without inserting them in the game and loading the game engine to render.

Model Viewer is a practic Windows program for rendering the 3D Models.
How Model Viewer works?

Model Viewer is built from two parts:

1. Converter

2. Renderer ( 3D Model Viewer)

Converter:

Converter is a smooth program which lets user choose which models (with Textures) to load. It will support many of well used models (.fbx, .x, .3ds .max ...) and textures (.dds, .jpg...). Than the converting engine executes and converts users model to Model Viewer readable format or to one of formats user wishes. Than the path file is writen.

Converter will be writen in Java and avaliable for Windows and Linux OS.
DESIGN:

Here is simple form the converter should look like:

Download The Converter Design.exe Here

3D Model Viewer for Windows (D3D9):

Model Viewer reads the path file and loads the specific model. Model Viewer will contain many of features like animations rendering, lighting, different precompiled effects, screenshots maker etc.

The main point is to make modelers friendly software for easy and fast checking and viewing of 3D models.
