ie 6 goes offline

my ie 6 goes offline when i haven't used it for a few minutes. i.e. can't load any webpages.

i've tried releasing (ipconfig /release & ipconfig /renew) at the dos prompt and it works occasionally. is there a setting in the registry that may have been changed.

i'm also running a router, and the other computer never has this problem.
all other connections still remain (e.g. messenger and kazaa still remain connected). thanks for the advice.

if your other pc's are running fine then it's likely a pc specific problem, but to rule out the router u may try connecting the problematic pc directly to ur modem for an appropriate length of time (say 2 or 3 times as long as the problem normally takes to rear its ugly head). if it recurs w/o the router its a pc prob, if it doesn't then it likely is a router prob (firm upgrade?) let us know what t/s steps uv already taken
