Help IE7 opens new tabs non-stop

  #1
Nov 11th, 2007
Hello! I'm having problems with my IE7 browser. Sometimes, it opens new tabs every second non-stop! What could be the cause?
Another browser problem - when I close a browser, it always display a dialog box saying "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience... blah blah blah... then send error report and don't send buttons. This is really annoying.
Thanks in advance! Have a nice day.

The two problems may be related. Don't know the cause or solution. I'd first do full scan for virus with an antivirus scanner then anti-spyware program. If no problems there use one of the many programs that check registry and file system. I think Norton Works will do it but will cost you some $$$.

Download HijackThis from here. Download it to your desktop and NOT a temporary folder.
Start HJT & press the "Do a system scan and save a log file" button. When the scan is finished a window will pop up giving you the option of where to save it. Save it to desktop where it is easy to access. Open the log file and copy the entire contents of the file & paste it into the body of your post. DO NOT FIX ANYTHING YET. Most of what is there is necessary for the running of your system.

Hilarious! I'm googleing this exact problem and I come across a thread discussing almost the exact same thing here. I can give a little more detail though, mine is in IE 6, which is my default browser, but I use Firefox for everything.
First off, IE starts opening as soon as I log in. It opens to my home page, and continues to open until theres some 30-60 pages open. Tried switching defaults, then it just did it in Mozilla. It worsens every time I start typing, until I get frustrated and turn to my laptop. (Which is annoying, since my desktop has all of my graphics programs.) I have run Ad-Aware, Spybot, virus scan, a registry editor, fixed all problems that came up. Went into msconfig, cleared everything out that I didn't need. Read the entries above and ran HijackThis. Log at the bottom. In the process of typing this little blurb, I've had some 25 windows open, so I have to keep clicking back here! Driving me insane, so if anyone has a suggestion, I will love you forever! 35 windows open now.........ahhhhh........44!
