Help Help a newbie out?

  #1
Nov 30th, 2007
Hi, im new to this website as you can see from my 1 posts xD. Well my computer has been acting up.. usually its really fast and virus/spyware free. But now i keep getting pop ups, slow system performance, and alot of spyware/adware scanners are telling me i have Trojans/Spyware/Adware though my anti-virus doesn't pick up the Trojans so i don't know whats wrong. Heres a Log from Hijackthis.. Maybe you guys can help me out and tell me what to delete or download a good program for spyware remover that ACTUALLY works and i don't have to pay.

EDIT: I was using an older version of Hijackthis. This is the new log file.

You've been infected with Vundo.

Browse this forum and follow any thread dealing with Vundo. That'll tell you what tools you'll need and how to fix it.

Alternatively there's my famous method posted 03-Sep-07 (search under the mis-spelt term "Vitunonde") which is a step by step guide; you'll need a second PC and a USB hard drive enclosure to use my method.

Other than either of the above two choices, you can only stream off your data, wipe your disk and re-build your system.

Okay, well i searched up for threads on vundo and i found one post from crunchie saying to download VundoFix and I did. It finally deleted that one file I've been trying to delete for so long but I still have one other file that VundoFix didn't pick up but im not sure if it is Vundo or not but it doesn't let me delete it or anything at all. Heres a new Log file from Hijack and the log file from VundoFix.

You didn't mention the file you're trying to get ris of but I suspect it's ssqpm.dll.

My method (search forum under "Virtunonde") will get rid of it. But do remember to thoroughly investigate the clusters of files that I mention otherwise it'll come back and stay resident.

Do it!

Yeah I read your method to removing it but I don't have a second computer and I don't know much about this and everything you said. And yes the file that i can't remove is in fact ssqpm.dll. If you can tell me an alternate way on how to get rid of it, I will greatly appreciate it.

Delete the file and fix the key in Safe Mode.
You will not survive long out there with a naked XP - get SP2.
