No ethernet connect in TCP/IP (G4)

Expand Post »
I purchased SBC/Yahoo DSL and I can't install it. Although my MAC G4 (old version, like a G3) has an ethernet port, the DSL flashes a message that it can't find it. When I go to control panels, TCP/IP, and pull down connect via, I only see PPP and Appletalk...no ethernet option. A friend who was trying to help thinks I don't have the software I need, so I downloaded Apple Ethernet update 2.o and installed it...but I still don't get the ethernet option.

I've tried calling Apple, and the only suggestion was to upgrade from OS 9.2 to X or find a repair shop. SBC/Yahoo tried to help, but gave up after about an hour on the phone trying various codes.

Any other ideas?
