Newbie advice - printer/dvd-rw

Just in possession of a laptop which runs Mac. Any advice as to a good printer and dvd-rw drive that are mac compatable?

Are you sure the laptop doesn't have a SuperDrive (Apple's name for DVD-RW/CD-RW drives) already?

Which laptop and which version of the OS?
