Hi Hope someone could be able to help me with the problem I am having. I have an Ibook 500 Mgz running OS 10.3. I recently bought an external dvd writer and used usb to connect. However when I insert a DVD, I get a message error in initailization, no hardware found. But when you go to the system utility it will show the external writer with the title of the dvd.

It would not however appear in the desktop. So I could not play the dvd that I want. Do i have to install anything else for it to be recognized?
