G3 wireless problem

Expand Post »
I have a G3 Blue and White (OS 10.2.8) that I am trying to connect to my home wireless network. I purchased a Macwireless card for the G3 and it is installed and recognized by the system. My network appears on the list of local area networks that I can attach.

The "base" station consist of PC (XP) with a Netgear Wirelss Router. If I disable my Security settings under the Netgear admin site I am able to get an internet connection for the G3.

However, I am not interested in leaving my network open but when I add WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) or WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key) I am not able to get connected.

Using WEP I set a passphrase and generate the keys but I'm not able to see where on the G3 to do likewise. It only asks for a password.

If I use WPA-PSK, I set a passphrase but it is not recognized when I enter the passphrase as the password on the G3.

Is it possible to have a secure wireless network with this setup?

I would appreciate any input, thanks.
