Mac OS 9 to Max OS X

Expand Post »
Hi,

I have an old slot-loading Imac [vintage 2001] running Mac OS 9. Computer shipped wih 64mb ram and I've upgraded memory to 128mb.

Can I upgrade to OS X on my Imac? Unfortuantely I'm not terribly tech. data literate and couldn't suss this myself! Local branch of PC World haven't a clue and no retailer local to me does macs.

Use the mac for my scriptwriting and really don't want to move to a PC, but can't afford new mac 'write' now!

Thanks for help!

Re: Mac OS 9 to Max OS X

Yes you can. If it was 2001 it should have at least a G3 400 which I've personally used a Powerbook with a 400 MHz G3 and found it to be satisfactory...not thrilling, but ok. However, your memory is too low. I would get it at least up to 256 MB.
