Apple Help doesn't respond to search phrase

I'd appreciate any advice on how to sort this problem. I've heard of Apple Help giving problems with startup -- have no problem there -- but when I enter the search term and press enter, nothing happens. No text brought up, etc. This on a G4 running Panther. Any ideas???? Thanks

Can you describe how you are trying to search? I would like to replicate here.

OK, say I am in iPhoto and I want to find something out...I click Apple Help on the toolbar (far right) - a window pops up asking me what I want to search for...so I type (for example) "import pictures" in the search box. There is nothing to click, so I hit enter...and nothing happens! No results, nothing.
