slow network browsing

Afternoon people,

Our mac users have been experiencing a real slowdown of browsing accross our Mac Server since we did the leap from OS9 to OSX. When navigating through folders and files within apps and through the finder it takes its times to get there, most of the time the SBBOD appears for 15-30 seconds. The server is Windows 2000 with a 250gb hdd with 20gb free and 2gb RAM. Im pretty sure its not the server as we never used to have this problem and windows users are fine browsing. Is there a setting within OS X (we run 10.3.9) which can speed up browsing the network, or is something switched on which is causing this hige delay?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hate to say it, but I think this is a known problem with Panther and Win2k. Panther/Tiger and Win2k3 don't have this problem.
