My Mackook is connected to the internet okay, but neither Safari, nor Firefox are working. The message shows "Firefox can't find the server at ...."
It was working fine till last night, when I remember seeing a software update message.
I am currently running a Mac OS X Lion version 10.7.5 (11G63)
I am not computer literate and I am plain lucky someone has lent me their pc to be able to ask the forum for help...

Type "ping www.google.com"
The terminal should come back and say it's pinging an ip address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx or it will say timeout/host not found.Let me know which it is.

Have you tried resetting your router/modem?
DNS settings might be incorrect.
