HOW TO :: Reset Power Mac g5 serial number??

I am an Act and i just replaced a motherboard in a g5 power mac. the serial number no longer shows in the system profiler and im not sure why but the customer needs this. they are very adamant about this. i called apple provider support and they said they didnt know and basicly didnt feeling like escalating to find an answer (almost exact quote). does any on know how to set the apple serial number up after a mother board replacemnt?

i have already read that article, plus several hours on gsx. it leads me to believe there may be a way but im having no luck finding said way.
